Ed Burnett reminded me that December 1, 1959 the Virginian Railway was merged away into the Norfolk and Western Railway. The Virginian Railway may be gone but it’s certainly not forgotten. The Virginian Railway group is
very active within our N&WHS. I would also venture to say it’s the most popular of all of the beautiful NS Heritage Units!

Wow. What a terrible accident! That’s sure an important part of the Southern’s history. Tells us a bit about the times back then too. Thanks for posting. . . . I noticed the 14 page Washington city paper’s price is stated as one cent. Today a copy of the Washington Post is $2. Though we get a few more pages now…. - SS
