606 at Crewe

Not many remained in Britain after WW2. They were spread out over large parts of Europe and remained in service for quite a while afterwards. I believe some went to Korea and some did a double transit of the Atlantic.


The lower photo is at Ropley on the Mid-Hants Railway (Watercress Line). It had a reputation for making a lot of noise from its whistle.
