VGN Date Nails

John,
I have never seen any VGN date nails in the wild. I purchased these already cleaned and in their wooden and glass cage. Ha! I have had the pleasure of hunting down some orginal N&W date nails years ago. The secret is to know where to look for them. If I remember correctly I first thought that they were nailed into the end of the ties but in reality they were nailed on the top of the ties near the railroad spikes.

I have a framed box of VGN crosstie date nails in my collection. The dates are 1940 - 1958. Hope my answer is correct.
