I might also relate that Frederick Kimball was the nephew of William Milnes, owner of the Shenandoah Iron Works, which was the primary reason for the construction of the Shenandoah Valley Railroad.

NOTE:  Frederick Kimball was the nephew of Edward White Clark (1828-1904,) principal of E.W. Clark & Co, a Philadelphia private bank which bought the AM&O at a sheriff’s sale.   So, “Uncle Ed”  sent “Young Freddie” down to run the railroad he had just bought.  Blood, and money, are indeed thicker than water.
