I doubt that Smith’s office was in Bristol, Tennessee, since the N&W ownership ended at the state line in the middle of the State Street crossing. Just a little nit to pick, but he would have been at the roundhouse which at that time was just north of the east end of the passenger platform.

SMITH, NORBOURN HENRY, Foreman Norfolk & Western Ry in 1906. Office Bristol, Born Nov. 22, 1844 at Lynchburg, Va. Educated in the common schools. Entered railroad service 1862 with Virginia & Tennessee Rd (now Norfolk & Western Ry) since which he has been consecutively machinist seven years; foreman roundhouse 16 years; master mechanic Western division same road and master mechanic Roanoke Machine Works 22 months; was subsequently master mechanic Clinch Valley division same road at Bluefield. W. Va., and is now foreman same road at Bristol, Tenn.
