That may be the movement for which the phrase "right on time but it's
yesterday's train" was invented . . .

Subject: Detour
The March 27, 1935, issue of the Bluefield (WV) Daily Telegraph had an
article about a "gigantic" landslide at Ingleside, WV, that blocked both
the N&W and VGN main lines. According to the article the following is
the detour route for N&W passenger train No. 16.
"Eastbound Norfolk and Western train No. 16 came into Bluefield last
night and was re-routed over the Clinch Valley district to Norton,
thence over the L. and N. to A p -
palachla, Va and then over the Southern to Bristol. From Bristol the
train was routed over the N. and W. to Roanoke."
Do you think that it arrived in Roanoke on time?
