HIX, CHARLES H., Vice President of the Virginian Ry. in 1922.   Born April 5, 1862, Nelson Co. Virginia.  Educated at Norwood high school.  Entered railroad service 1880, since which he has been:  1881, rodman engineering corps Norfolk & Western RR;  1881-1884, receiving and delivery clerk, asst. agent and operator N&W Saltville, Va.;  agent at Buford, Va. N&W;    1886 to 1888, relief agent at Roanoke N&W;    1888 to Oct. 1891, train dispatcher at Roanoke N&W;  Oct 1891 to 1897, trainmaster and chief train dispatcher at Roanoke N&W;  July 1, 1900 to June 1, 1901, trainmaster Second Division Seaboard Air Line RR;  June 1, 1901 to September 1, 1901, trainmaster First Division same railroad;  September 1901 to September 1, 1905, superintendent of First Division same road;  September 1, 1905 to July 1, 1909, general superintendent;  July 1 to Dec 2, 1909, general manager same road;  Nov 1, 1912 to May 1914, president and general manager Norfolk Southern Ry;  May 1914 to period of Federal control, out of railway service - Federal manager of Norfolk & Portsmouth Belt Line RR and Virginian Ry with jurisdiction over all Hampton Roads Railroad Terminals at Norfolk, Va.  March 1, 1920 to date, vice-president Virginian Ry.
