Greetings,

I figured that I would put my 2 cent's worth in regarding this beautiful caboose. These cabooses are some of my favorite designs. Mike probably didn't see one of these ex-Wabash Streamlined Cupola steel cabooses because they did show up until 1980 in local and on mine runs in Virginia and West Virginia. They are classified by the N&W as Class C-18. This was the same design that was renumbered to 1776 and painted in the red/white/blue bicentennial paint scheme to match the N&W SD45 #1776 locomotive. The matching 1776 trailer is in the VMT in Roanoke. I don't know where the matching red/white/blue N&W hopper is or even if it still exists. A really informative website on the history of these streamlined cabooses is chessierail.org/wabash2827.html.

See you at Lynchburg Rail Day 2018 on Saturday, August 11, 2018!

Best,

Norris

Today at Pulaski we found their caboose looking clean and freshly painted. This style cab is not familiar to me, however. It looks like something Raymond Lowey might have designed.
