Is this just a possible soot fire in the exhaust ducts or is the locomotive in serious trouble?

On Today 1-30-2018 Around 5pm an east bound Norfolk Southern train was looking
just like a steam engine.. The second unit in the consist was shooting up super-high
flames of fire and hugh-gulps of gigantic smoke while east bound thru Upland,Elkhorn,
Switchback & Maybeury,West Virginia In McDowell County, By the time it arrived in
Bluefield,WV Mercer County around 6pm there were no longer any flames of fire or smoke..
As a veteran Railroad Photographer It was both dramatic and scary at the same time.
