relay cabinet guts

Ran across a populated relay cabinet today and was able to get some shots.
Would appreciate it if some of you signal gurus could give us a little 101
on the various devices and their functions.  I suspect the transformers
were used to step down utility power to be compatible with the predecessor
battery voltages.  Were those lamps around 10V?  What did the relays take?
Any information would be appreciated.
