Is that a wye or is the east leg the connection to the Blacksburg Branch?  My understanding is that trains from Christiansburg to Blacksburg departed up the Kingston Branch and then switched back north to cross over on the  bridge over the N&W mains. .

N&W Railroad drawing F67 (NWHS locator HS-G10470) titled "Map of N&W RR Main Line and Branches also Showing Branches and Sidings Built Under Refund Plan" dated February 18th 1895 shows the Kingston branch as having been built under the "Refund Plan" and first operated in 1891, with 3.64 miles of branch and 0.13 miles of sidings. 

As seen in the attached image, it also shows the branch had a wye connection with the main line at that time, which was new information to me.
