Chase

Is the loader at Keystone, on the mainline just 1/4 mile east of Eckman Yard still loading?

The new load out at Switchback is active and running coal. Star Services own the operation. They have a capacity for 56 cars and this operation is usually worked by Elkhorn Shifters out of Bluefield even though Wilcoe is closer. Its worked a couple times a week. True Energy Inc's Lake Superior Operation is still active. This well kept plant sits just west of Huger. It has a capacity for 55 cars. Even though Wilcoe is closer, Lake Superior is usually worked by Bluefield Crews. Its worked once or twice a week. The next active operation to the west is Bluestone's operation in the old Eckman Yard. Bluestone Inc trucks their coal there to be loaded. No tipple is present, cars are filled by an end loader. They have a capacity for 17 cars in the loading track at Eckman. Bluefield works it most of the time. Arcelor-Mittal Inc built a new prep plant on Dans Branch a few years ago. Currently, there is some track work going on there. It looks as if they are putting a new siding in. Wilcoe Crews generally take care of Dans Branch. Unit trains are split into 3 sections then floodloaded there. They load almost every day there. Nate, Cucumber (On Jacobs Fork) hasn't done anything for the last 2 years or so. With Alpha Natural's bankruptcy, the future of this fairly new operation is in Jeopardy. Can anyone tell me whats going on at Caretta? They built a new plant and I've heard the EPA or somebody won't give them the proper permits to start operation. Hopefully someone can shine some light on this.
