All indications are that they are not in production. I don’t know of a resource for them. The best source for Virginian decals is www.greatdecals.com. Bill Mosteller may be receptive to creating some, especially if someone provides the artwork. He did that for me for VGN bulkhead flat cars. Unfortunately, the VGN font is different from any I found.
I finally opened my Bachmann Spectrum H16-44. At least this version has a good looking paint job. Putting the finishing touches on it, inserting a decoder, then on to the paint shop for weathering. Hope to have it on my layout this week.

Bob,
Thanks for the information. Are the MRS decals still in production? I will eventually need 8-10 sets.
The Yahoo users group should also be a good resource.
Thanks again,
Russ Gaus

I have a couple of decals:
- Two from Walthers (Decal # 95750) that have been opened so I’m not sure the whole set is there. Plus, I’m not impressed with the accuracy of the decals.
- One from Model Railroad Services (MRS 280-04). This set looks more like the VGN Trainmaster than the Walthers. The MRS directions states “The painting guide is located in the March 1984 Mainline Modeler. There is an error in the painting guide – the long hood should be front on the H 24-66s. Floquil Railbox Yellow is a good match for the yellow on these engines.” The directions state that a set will letter either the H 24-66 or the H 16-44.
I got these decals in the 90s and use one set on an Athearn Trainmaster. Searching for either decal with Google was unsuccessful. Maybe eBay is a choice. I’ve settled on the Atlas Trainmasters to fill out my fleet I have a couple of Bachmann H16-44s, one VGN and one undecorated, but haven’t taken them out of the box for over 15 years as I don’t like the paint job on the VGN or the detail. Maybe the current (?) version is better.
If you’re modeling the Virginian Railway, I recommend that you join the VirginianRailwayEnthusiasts Yahoo group (https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/VirginianRailwayEnthusiasts/info).

Is anyone aware of commercially available decals in HO scale for Virginian FM Trainmasters? These were available through the NWHS Commissary, but a recent inquiry showed that they are not currently available. Also, do any paint manufacturers offer the yellow that was used on the Virginian FM diesels?
