Ed,
Might I suggest a totally different method! Instead of all the oversize
spikes and the trouble of putting them in I use brown Latex caulk! Spread it
wide enough to cover the entire tie and only thick enough to grab the ties.
I use push pins from the bulletin board I bought in bulk at Staples to hold
it in place until it sets. This and N scale rail Joiners on Code 83 flex
and it looks great. I have almost 500 feet of track down this way with no
failures to date. I originally tried floor tile adhesive but this did fail
rather quickly.

I haven't heard back yet from the modeling list (it's OK, I know everyone
in this group works hard) but I thought I would clarify and add one more:

    1. would there be a way to spray a liquid of some kind to keep the
electricity flowing? I hate to mess too much with those little brass fingers
they look pretty fragile
    2. is there any better/easier way to spike down Shinahara flex trak
(code 83) other than one at a time with a pair of spike pliers? An
automated system that would let me drill some additional holes along curves rather
than the usual pin vise? What do the experienced guys in our group use?

Thanks gents - PS, I'm just glad to see #611 moving at all!
