CONTACT POINTS

Thank you! I was less than clear in my email - I have hardwired all the roundhouse tracks but am worried about the contact fingers that provide power to rotate the turntable itself. It's a little herky-jerky (like Bob Feller's pitching motion) and I "THINK" it's because one or more of the fingers is not making full electrical contact to turn the turntable.
Appreciate the adhesive advice - as we all know spiking track is BORING!! (as my kids would say).
All the best....

Ed,
I did not see your question come thru on the modeling list.
For your question on the turntable, I would recommend hardwiring track and not using the contact points. This was one reason I gave up my Walthers turntable. One solution might be to use Wahl's clipper oil or another conductive oil on the points.
As for tacking down track, I have not used it but one alternative is to use a silicone adhesive. The adhesive is used to keep the track in line until you add the ballast and once the ballast is glued your track should remain in place just like the prototype. Now I didn't use this but instead did as you with my pin vise and drilled individual holes, yes it is no fun! I would recommend Peco track nails as they are smaller than anything else I have seen.
Find them here:

I used the SL8314, not sure about this replacement. Mine were long enough to go thru HO track and cork and hold well, even on Precision Scale elevated curve track. Number 78 hole is all you need.
