Gordon,
Nice catch with the satellite view of the holding ponds at Roanoke!
Interesting comparison with what is there now. Wish I had thought of that
when Google Maps was fairly new. In some of their captures of the Victory
Stadium area you could still see the stadium in the frames that weren't
updated. But pan a couple hundred feet (or less) and the stadium would
desolve in to a grassy field!
FWIW Dept., Hiram Hornbarger was one of the Vicker treatment plant
operators. He was the brother of W.P. Hornbarger, VGN section foreman, my
wife's grandfather, and featured in one of Aubrey's VGN calendars.
