I just re-verified my recollections via Google Earth. CSX goes as far as what looks like an active loadout north of town on WV-80. The track just south of the loadout is severed and crossings paved over at a couple locations on WV-80 and US-52. And the connecting track at the old yard in Gilbert looks like it is just used for MOW equipment storage. There is a shopping center on part of the old yard now too.

I ran down the street where I could see the tracks, and was very surprised to see an N&W passenger train going downriver on the C&O rails! The connection at Gilbert had been used, and the diversion was needed for something. A wreck? I never knew. Nothing in the news about it.
