The one on the fireman's side is the feedwater heater, and the two pumps on the engineer's side are air pumps (for the braking system) All have been available in HO as detail parts. For the air pumps, I used to buy cheap plastic models, like the Monogram Hudson (no longer produced) just for the detail parts. At the time, it was cheaper than buying brass parts separately.

Subject: pumps on K1

What does the large flat device on the fireman side of a K-1 do?

Do you know where to get an HO scale one?  There are two smaller pumps (or whatever) on the engineers side.
What do they do?

Thank you,
Mike Shockley
