N&W Cabin Car Lost in Ithica, NY

First of all, it’s Ithaca (forgive me – I couldn’t resist).

Second, those are not archbar trucks.  They are Andrews cast side frames; don’t be deceived by the strap under the journal boxes.  Those side frames were designed originally to replace archbar side frames using the old journal boxes.  Thousands of them were built for use under new cars, including many thousands of N&W’s HU quad hoppers of the twenties which were rebuilt into the H3 triples.   

This looks like a CF caboose; I don’t know if N&W ever had one with archbar trucks.

But it looks in fairly decent shape, considering how long it’s been there.

A friend from Cornell sent me the attached two photos of an N&W wooden cabin with arch bar trucks which now resides in Ithica, NY. He says the cabin has been in its present location "more than 20 years."

Anyone know the story of this piece?
