On the Peavine east of Clare, there were hold out signals to keep freights
stopped away from the yard and other work. Freights westbound were held out
at C-10,1 signal to clear the yard, storage tracks and the turning wye.
Eastbound they were held out of Ancor siding as the siding had an industrial
spur (Baldwin Piano/Heeking Can). The shifter had to work the west facing
siding and run around its train by coming out of the west end of ANCOR
siding then back eastward back down the mainline to the rest of its train.
The eastward hold out was about ¾ mile west of the ANCOR west end home
signal. Thus, the signals on the east end of ANCOR are ‘typical’ while the
signals on the west end are configured for the needs of the work.
