That unit was at the east end shops for what seemed like a couple of years. I recall seeing NS tow it and its RF&P sister from where it sat for quite a long time rotting in the yard west of 10thSt., to the shops and several days later the RF&P unit went back. At that time there were no sides on 1009. It disappeared into the shop earlier this year and emerged with new fabricated side panels with portholes, a new front coupler cover, etc., but still unpainted. A month or two ago it left the shops headed west for parts unknown to me.

She was sitting under the bridge and very well concealed in the sea of Black horses. If you make a trip to Roanoke you might find her on the south side under the bridge at the shops.
