Y6b builder's plates

Thank you for this information. I have since seen 1218 with a sheathed smokebox, still retaining its builder's plates. Where the original builder's plates for 1218 are is a mystery, as the plates on 1218 now are reproductions.

2194 was built new with a sheathed smokebox (never modified) and the builders plates were there when new. (I know, because I saw them) If they are missing in some photos, they were removed later  for some unknown reason.

I happened to notice while examining some photos of Y6b 2194 that the builder's plates appeared to be missing. Since this locomotive has a sheathed smokebox, and I suppose the locomotive was not built like this. The builder's plates appear to have been removed when the smokebox was modified, and since 2194's builder's plates have not (to my knowledge) surfaced, I can only be curious what happened to them. It is possible other locomotives received the same modifications when they received the sheathed smokebox.
