N&W Poles - What Wood?

Anyone know if the N&W had any standard (or even a preference) for the kind of wood chosen for Telegraph poles?

I am aware that some road preferred Chestnut poles because Chestnut is highly imperious to water, and that Greenheart Chestnut was a preferred wood for freight house platforms and the like due to its weathering properties. (After timber treating came around, the choice of woods probably became much less a critical issue.)
