I believe the engine was Class M 495, which, as I recall, was retired in
June 1953 following severe damage to its crown sheet. It was not a
full-fledged boiler explosion.

As for the explosion of Y-6 2153, some details can be found in the most
recent issue of The Arrow (Vol. 29, No. 2) on pages 20 and 21. It occurred
on December 12, 1955, about 2 miles west of Wytheville.
