Harry,
Was it really a "conveyor belt" as opposed to . . . maybe a steel cable?
I've never heard of a mixture of a belt with buckets. Please elaborate.
 
Belted down to the head-house and then bucketed from there across the river??

There's a photo of the arrangement in the N&WHS 2012 Classic Calendar.  Best
I remember the caption, there were buckets with a 100-pound capacity that hung
from a cable, NOT a conveyor belt.  This information came from the N&W Magazine.
I don't remember issue, but it gives more detail.     Harry
