Getting History Right

The reason to include it with THE BOOK is that many people [the society
hopes] who are NOT members, will buy the book. They will NOT go wandering
around the Internet looking for corrections/updates. One should not have to
be a society member or subscribe to an email list to find out that there are
addition or corrections to a printed
publication. Many people [in this day and age] forget that there are
still MANY people who have NO ACCESS to the Internet, and even if they do,
are not skilled in its use.
I for one would want to have the information with my printed copy of the
book. I should not have to find it somewhere else on my own and then print
a copy.

I think it should be on the web site and included with the book. It was
stated that they will be no changes or additions to the book. For those of
us that have the hard cover original it sure would be nice to see is
(hopefully) included with the soft cover book.

The bottom line is we are a historical society and, as such, have a
responsibility to "get it right" wherever possible. I do understand the
financial part and the difficulty of changing that which is scanned in.
However that does not change our responsibility to "get it fight". The cost
of an additional loose sheet to be inserted in the printed book cannot be
that much and should be done. Once the sheet is created there is no reason
not to have it on the web site. I would suggest that a page be created on
the web site that shows the errors in other books that the society is aware
of. Sounds like something that goes with "getting it right".
