If this is the second time you've received this, I'm sorry. The 1946
bound volume of Norfolk & Western magazines had two articles
regarding the line relocation near Peebles. One contained a sketch
showing the original and the proposed line between Mineral Springs
and Peebles. Neither article contained a grade profile, but quoteing
from the November issue - "While the purpose of the project is simple--
to eliminate the heavy westbound grade at Beaver Pond Hill, thus
reducing the ruling grade from 1.142 per cent to 0.52 per cent --
the job itself is complicated. It includes building of two railroad bridges--
one 705 feet long, the other 365 feet -- and 4 1/2 miles of new line
change proper . . . . . . ." Harry Bundy
