IN CITY AND COALFIELD
------
Colored Brakeman Killed
Yesterday afternoon about 6 o'clock, on the west end yard, Albert Allen, a colored brakeman, was struck by a light west bound engine and killed. Allen was abut forty-five years of age and lived at Midway. He had just quite work and was going to his home, and while walking up the track, not thinking of danger, was struck by the engine. It is supposed his attention was attracted by train No. 10, which was coming into the yard, and in getting out of the way of No. 10 he stepped in front of the engine. His arm was cut off and a large hole cut in his head. His remains were taken to the Bluefield Undertaking parlors and later to his home in Midway.
