I recall when NWHS had its convention there at least part of the roundhouse was still standing and being used by a business or government entity.

Hello, I'm fairly familiar with the passenger station area and Bristol its self, but where was the roundhouse and service facilities for N&W steam locomotives at in Bristol. I know the Southern serviced there also. Thanks in advance.

Ed King did a great article on the ins and outs of Bristol in Trains back in the March 2004 issue, in the article "Railroad blueprint: Bristol, Tennessee/Virginia" that covered operations, locations, and had maps of the area. You can order the issue from the Trains website for $5.95 (or it is on sale right now for $4.15, but I don't know if that is for everyone or because I'm registered as a subscriber). At any rate, Ed did a good job and the article is worth the price. As to what is left of the facilities, the passenger station is still there and there is a yard, but that is about it.
