ROGERS HEIRS ANXIOUS TO DISPOSE OF THE VIRGINIAN
------
Rumors Again Persistent That New York Central Will Soon Take Over Local Railroad
Rumors are again persistent in Virginian railroad circles that the New York Central is to soon take over the Rogers road. It is said that the Rogers heirs very reluctantly advance appropriations to meet the various needed improvements and additions to the Virginian, and are more than anxious to turn it over to some strong road wanting an outlet to the Chesapeake. That there is some evidence pointing to the truth of this rumor was shown the first of this week, when a party of New York Central officials in a special train, made up of a private car of the New York Central, one of the Delaware and Hudson and accompanied by the "Dixie," the official car of the Virginian, made a tour of inspection over the line from Norfolk to Deepwater. It is not known who composed the group of officials making the trip except that.they represented the New York Central. The first trip was made.toward the west on last Saturday. On Monday the special came back over the line east bound. And on Tuesday following the "Dixie" alone went westward and has not since returned. All of which tends to confirm the rumor that the Virginian will shortly change hands and become a part of the system controlled by the New York Central.
