Derailment Proves Expensive
Yesterday morning a freight car was derailed at Virginia City [Clinch Valley line west of St. Paul, VA] and ran along the track, cutting tie after tie for a mile before the accident was discovered. Wrecking crews with hundreds of railroad ties went to Virginian City and worked for hours making repairs. It is estimated that the work cost the Norfolk and Western in the neighborhood of $2,000.
