Slide Delays Train
    Yesterday morning train No. 15 was delayed about two hours on account of a slide between Narrows and Curve.  Tons of earth and rock broke away from a cliff and rolled down onto the track.  No damage was done.

Smallpox Patient on Train
    Yesterday morning a man boarded train No. 5 at St. Paul and because of a report that he was a smallpox patient which was circulated through the train everyone left the coach in which he was and it was with some degree of temerity that Capt. Floyd Francisco went to him to collect his ticket.  Dr. Coates, who was on the train, said the man had had smallpox, but had passed the stage when contact could be followed by contagion, but this did not reassure the people.  Finally the man was taken off the train at Coeburn by officers and held so that his clothes might be fumigated.
