IN CITY AND COALFIELD
------
Chance for Recovery
Bryant Davis, the boy who lost an arm and a leg in the west yards on Monday, is still alive at the Bluefield Sanitarium and his condition is quite satisfactory, it being said yesterday that it is possible that he may recover unless gangrene sets in, resulting in blood poisoning. The little fellow looks well and believes he is going to recover.

Jumped From Moving Train
J. C. Beard, of Cedar Bluff, was injured at Huger on Thursday night when he jumped from a moving train and struck his head against a mail crane when he struck the ground. Beard had been in a camp car, en route to Vivian, when he decided to jump off and catch his car as it came along. The train was making about six miles an hour at the time, and he felt sure he would not meet with an accident. He did not see the mail crane when he jumped. He was taken to Miner's hospital at Welch, and brought to the Bluefield Sanitarium here yesterday.
