Lee Alley's "Ghost Train" - sounds of the past

G. Lee Alley from Bristol, Tennessee, stopped by Boyce on his way to a truck show at the Winchester, Virginia, fairgrounds. This album shows his camper and a trailer that has an array of railroad whistles and horns, plus an air compressor.

One is a replica N&W Class J whistle made of stainless steel with a Nathan valve. Lee mentioned that the tone is stable whether the whistle is cold or hot. Brass needs to be heated by the steam before it has its familiar tone. I learned something new yesterday!
