Just a post script about how the other road did it.  Ran into a weighmaster
that had worked for VGN at Sewalls Point.  VGN's method was to lay old
cross ties between the rails, fire them off , then pull the frozen loads across
the fire.  One note about the Pier 6 thaw shed -- prior to entering, the air
hoses were wrapped in aluminum foil.

The weighmaster boasted that he could scale cars and play knock rummy
