Coach Destroyed by Fire
Yesterday a combination coach and baggage car was completely destroyed by fire at Raven, Va. The train was cut in two and left the car standing on the track. The rest of the train went up the Red Ash branch and on the return found the coach in flames. Just how it caught fire could not be found out.

[Raven is on the Clinch Valley line about three miles west of Richlands, and it is/was the junction for the Coal Creek branch to Red Ash. It sounds as though the train might have been a mixed train that left the combine in Raven while the freight portion went up the branch to Red Ash, although I could not find a supporting mixed train schedule in a couple of available Official Guides of that era.]
