TWO NEGROES CREMATED WHILE ASLEEP IN CAR
------
Third Suffered Terrible Burns Before Being Rescued and Died Later
Burned to death as they slept was the fate of two negroes [sic] who were cremated in a camp car fire at Vivian yards on Sunday morning. They were Ben Bradley and Walter Sanders. They were crisp when found after the fire which destroyed the car in which the men were and two other cars. Walt Cole, another negro, who was in the car, was rescued from a fiery death when railroad men chopped a hole in the side of the car with axes and pulled him out suffering from terrible burns, which necessitated his removal at once to the Miners' Hospital at Welch where he has since died.
How the fire started is a mystery but it is believed that the negroes, who had been drinking according to report, entered the car and in some way set it on fire. The dead men were buried yesterday.
