N&W in 1911--Two Christmas items

It's always interesting when family names show up in our N&WHS discussions.  Goodykoontz is not a very common name and obviously Very German!  My GGG Grandmother (my Dad's mother's, mother's side) was Maria Goodykoontz who married William Gilham in Maryland. They moved to Floyd County in the early 1800's .  Additional, related Goodykoontz and Gilham families also settled in Southwestern Virginia (primarily in Montgomery and Floyd Counties) coming down the Great Wagon Road through the Valley from Maryland and Pennsylvania. I have no way of knowing.  I had the same question myself.  Incidentally, at last report the Goodykoontz drug store was still in business at the intersection of Bland and South streets.

Heavy Passenger Train
    Train No. 2 pulled out of the depot here yesterday with twelve coaches loaded down with passengers for Virginia points.  Among the interested people who watched the train leave this city was Judge W. F. Rhea, of the Virginian Corporation Commission, who is spending Christmas here as the guest of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Goodykoontz.  The judge enjoys spending the holidays here with his grandchildren, who spent Thanksgiving with him at Richmond.

Train Much Delayed
    Train No. 3, which was delayed the previous night, arrived in the city yesterday morning shortly before 5 o'clock.  It was followed by train No. 17.  The local offices of the Norfolk and Western called up the hotels about a half hour before the train to advise them of its coming so guests who wished to take the train going west could get up in time to leave the city and arrive at their homes in time for Christmas.  The service was much appreciated.
