End of Trains

It takes a very long train to hang back that far. My guess is that what you are seeing are trains that have made a temporary stop for refueling engines. One of the designated refueling points is just west of 10th Street (the overhead highway bridge across the yard about half way between 5th Street and Shaffers Crossing, 24th Street). This area is called "the ramp", or, old "piggy back ramp", for the location of that facility many years ago.

Crews are still changed at 24th Street.

I have noticed the past week or so seeing (on the Roanoke Rail Cam) the end of west bound freights are parked in the cameras range. Is that because the stopping point to re-crew has been moved farther to the east or are the trains becoming longer ?
