N&W in 1911--Buys another railroad

Could the Bluefield Daily  Telegraph have been two (2) years late with this 
 report?
They abbreviated the name of the road, but the wonderful photo  included 
with this article does, in fact, have the full name on the  tender.  Can 
someone provide an explanation . . . and/or,  possibly, more details on this part 
of N&W's mergers and  acquisitions?

Virginia Anthracite Coal & Railway  Company – Incorporated April 2, 1902 in 
Virginia; connecting with the  N&W main line at Christiansburg and 
extending to Blacksburg, VA; purchased  at foreclosure by the Norfolk & Western 
Railway Co January 31, 1909,  becoming the Blacksburg Branch, with N&W 
operations beginning January 1,  1912.
