IN CITY AND COALFIELD
-----
New Train Benefits Merchants
The Norfolk and Western recently put on a train which is known as No. 17 and which runs between Bluefield and Gary every night, leaving here at 7:30. A prominent man who was speaking of the matter yesterday said that the merchants of this city have not yet realized the amount of good this train would do them if they would properly advertise the leaving time of the train and induce people to come here in the afternoon to do their shopping, knowing that they could get home to any point, no matter how small, on train No. 17. He suggested that the Retail Merchants Association take the matter up and see if the stores could not advertise the train along with their goods and in this way induce people to make longer stops in Bluefield so they would have more time to do their trading.
