Conductor Isaac Wright Couples L. M. Reedy and Miss Pearl Cruey Together in Falls Mills Depot

When the Goodwill local that passes here each morning at 7 o'clock pulled into the Falls Mills station yesterday morning, the conductor, Capt. Isaac T. Wright, who is a minister of the Christian Church, was met at the station by a blushing young couple whose hearts throbbed to throb as one. They had walked down from their homes on Stony Ridge, matrimonially bent, and the conductor was requested to couple the pair together in the holy bonds forthwith. There was no time for formalities at this wedding. The colored brakeman soon had the bunch of freight unloaded and on the platform and ready to signal the engineer to proceed. Mr. Wright during his twenty years experience as a conductor on the Pocahontas division, had experienced many obstacles to cause delay to his train, but this was the first time he had been held up to officiate at a wedding. But the ever-accommodating captain remembered that the Norfolk and Western road is spending considerable money to encourage the "Back home" and home building movement along its line and he knew there would be no "ct" delay report to make out on this occasion should extra 920 pull into Goodwill a little behind time. The preacher-conductor with freight bills in one hand and the marriage license in the other, spoke the impressive words that made L. M. Reedy, of McDowell county, aged nineteen and a laborer, and Miss Pearl Cruey, of the same age, and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Cruey, of Tazewell county, man and wife. The marriage took place in the waiting room of the depot and was witnessed by the agent, the local crew and a few friends of the connecting parties who had learned of the contemplated novel wedding. The groom is a worthy young man while the bride is numbered among the prettiest girls in the Mudfork neighborhood.
After visiting friends and relatives in the neighborhood for several days the happy couple will go to McDowell county to make their home.

[It was quite a compliment for her to be numbered among the prettiest girls in Mudfork.]
