Was the official name of the N&W passenger train that ran from Norfolk to New
York the Cannonball?
Walt Gay
Walt:In later years, the Cannonball was combined with the Cavalier betweenbetween Petersburg and Norfolk. Although shown as Cannonball-Cavalierin public timetables, No. 16, the eastbound Cavalier, terminated atPetersburg and cars were handed over to No. 22 for the last leg to Norfolk. Kinda odd, but the crew from Crewe went off duty at Petersburgand the crew from Richmond handled the train to Norfolk. PRR also hada train named The Cavalier. Harry Bundy
