I can't tell you much about NKP's property protection personnel.
One was gunned down on the 55th Street Bridge in Cleveland.  On
the VGN and N&W,THE policeman was Joe Byrum.  He was assigned to
the last run of VGN's No. 3 and during the latter part of his
career, he was assigned to watch the Jefferson Street crossing
in Roanoke -- there'd been some purse-snatchings of  general office
employees on their lunch break. You could see him having conversations
with Mr. Claytor on the corner of Shenandoah Ave. and Jefferson Street
