Every time they run south with pushers on a loaded coal train they end up
with extra power that needs to be ferried back to Roanoke. If they run two
or more trains a day it can add pretty quickly.

This is common on the pumpkin vine from Winston-Salem. It is not
unusual to see surplus power being brought back to Roanoke on these
trains. I find it interesting that they end up with so many extra
engines in Winston-Salem that they need to bring them back all at
one time in a big block like that.
