Dave Phelps asked: "Is this an organized event similar to the very successful Bristol mini-con some months ago, or a more informal "y'all come" event tied to the Centennial celebration? If you have a schedule, what's the starting time?"
This is an informal gathering. While it is not an official Town of Boyce Centennial event, think of it as a "tailgate party" for railroad enthusiasts. Boyce came into existence because of the construction of the Shenandoah Valley Railroad, as the crossing of what became US Highway 50. So, a gathering of railroad historians and their families can enjoy the day's events which includes a 1:30 PM parade and 5 PM cake-cutting.
The "train night" activities include a bring-something-to-share cookout at 6:30 PM. The presentation of railroad slides will begin at dusk, around 8 PM, and continue until 11 PM or later. It will be an evening of railroad camaraderie and as good as participants make it.
Best wishes,
