IN CITY AND COALFIELD
------
Train Strikes a Rock
Fireman Smith was slightly injured in a wreck which occurred near Oakvale Sunday night when a freight train ran into a rock which had rolled down on the track. Five coal cars and an engine were thrown from the track and train No. 16, which arrived in this city on time, was forced to wait here until 3:15 when the wreck was cleared up so that trains Nos. 16 and 17 could get by. Train No. 3 had passed the point where the wreck occurred just a few minutes before the rock rolled down.

Three Struck by Train
Sunday night near Devon, an unknown colored man was struck by a train and when found his injuries were so serious that he died before he could be removed to a hospital. The same night John Kobue**, a Hungarian, was struck by a train in the Elkhorn tunnel and received injuries from which he died later at the miner's hospital. At Northfork a colored miner, Philip Lloyd, was struck and run over by a freight while he was walking the track. The man, who was intoxicated, lost both legs and it is expected that he will lost his life as a result of the accident.
