TWO N. & W. TRAINS CHICAGO TO NORFOLK
------
Big Mail Hauling No. 15 and 16 to Run Through to Windy City
Railroad men at Columbus, in a position to know, says [sic] the Norfolk and Western and Pennsylvania will soon operate two trains through from Chicago to the coast. The Norfolk and Western trains affected will be Nos. 15 and 6 [No. 16?]. The large volume of mail received by No. 16 at Columbus off the Pennsylvania train No.10 makes it absolutely necessary that the mail cars on this run must start from Chicago.
Much delay to No. 16 is caused when the Pennsylvania train arrives at Columbus late in transferring the mail, the best part of an hour often being consumed. If the train was a through one, only ten minutes would be the stop at Columbus.
The express feature is another big item too that is being considered. The Norfolk and Western is handling more of this business from the large mail order houses to points in the south than ever before.
