TO MAINTAIN SCHEDULE
------
Trains Nos. 5, 6 and 3
Commencing today trains Nos. 5 and 6 will be run in two sections on the Clinch Valley. The second section will do all the express work between Bluefield and Toms Creek, thereby giving the first section a chance to do its passenger work and maintain its schedule going east and west. The new arrangement will be in force until after Christmas. Commencing the 22nd train No. 3 will run in two sections, the second section doing all the express work between this city and Williamson and also carrying passengers. Returning it will reach this city as first No. 16 making all the express stops between Williamson and Iaeger and letting off passengers from west of Williamson, who arrive there on the short trains. Between Iaeger and Bluefield it will make only such stops as No. 16 is scheduled to make. It is expected that this arrangement will enable No. 16, the through train, to make up enough time to reach this city nearly on time during the rush season, extending from the 22nd to the 14th.
Last night all passengers trains were double headed and this plan will be adhered to throughout the holiday season so as to maintain the schedule.
------
[I don't understand why fist No. 16 would run until the 14th (presumably of January). Possibly this date is a typo for the 24th.]
