Location of "Lake Superior No 3"

Superior No. 3 was located at Superior, WV, just east of Maitland.  Lake 
Superior operated its two mines as Superior No. 1 and Superior No. 2 until 
1938, at which time the mines were renamed Superior No. 3 and Superior No. 
4.  Superior No. 3 would be the same location as Superior No. 1.

1964 station and sidings list Superior No. 3 at MP 384.61, Superior No. 4 at 
MP 384.15.

These two shft mines were originally opeend by Dixon-Pocahontas Coal Company 
in 1905 at what became known as Dixon (post office was called Dixopoca). 
Name chnaged to Superior in 1914 after Lake Superior Coal Company bought the 
property.
